What a waste of an uuvo. It really is depressing to see Xiang Mei get tossed a bone, only for it to do absolutely nothing for her. Her damage ceiling got upped by a bit, and she got FUA2, but she traded some of her damage control for an easier activation condition- Which, while that is nice, is still ultimately kind of pointless. Now she can FUA, which is nice I suppose, but FUA2 is awkward to activate and eats up a lot of your board and your combo potential, even if it does let you do rows. But, while the easier activation condition IS helpful, Xiang Mei still suffers massively from her two major issues: Her sub pool, and her lack of passive damage reduction.

First, her sub pool. There are around 35 or so different Fire-attributed Healer types in the game, and a good chunk of those are rather mediocre farmables. Her best subs are Gadius for a board changer, Uriel for an orb changer, and NY Mitsuki who has Machine Killer and fills a niche. Pixel OK can work for her pixel card but that's also filling a very small niche that usually isn't necessary, and everything beyond these four are more or less budget options. Her ideal team still hasn't changed- You still want 3 Uriel and a Gadius, maybe swapping one Uriel for NY Mitsuki or a pixel if you need it. Despite the large gap of time since XM was last relevant (lol) and the new uuvo, her sub pool han't expanded to encompass anything truly relevant. Inherits are nice, but those only cover for so much. All in all, you're still playing the same XM team you were playing over a year ago when she first released.

Second, her lack of damage reduction. As many people remember, XM was outclassed almost immediately upon her release by Myr, a farmable Heart Cross lead who had a very powerful constant 75% damage reduction, which was effectively better than an HP multiplier. She was a row lead, a heart-based activation condition, and could tank like there was no tomorrow, but Myr had three major advantages over XM: Her sub pool was way bigger due to the lack of type restriction, her tankiness came from damage reduction, and she needed about half as many heart orbs as XM did. Now, XM only needs one more orb than heart cross, but the other two problems remain. As time goes on, HP multipliers that aren't on par with, say, Dark Athena's x4, wind up not measuring up to the damage reduction a lot of other teams have gotten. Damage Reduction is just more powerful than having 50k-60k hp, since it helps you tank through gravities and the much higher damage numbers you see deeper into endgame content. The further in you get, the less and less effective that 60k hp is, but damage reduction will always be just as good as it was before.

And ultimately, all this leads XM to be... even more outclassed. Powercreep has been slowly crawling up PaD's back, pushing leader skills to do more and more with less and less (just look at D.Ath or Yog) to the point that even LMyr, the thing that usurped XM immediately upon release, is no longer commonly played because there are just better options. As we learned from R.evo Sakuya, a damage increase alone is just not enough to fix things when a leader suffers from so much more- The only reason Sakuya got away with it was because she got Daiblos and Tachibana to pair with, two stellar leaders that cover for Sakuya's weaknesses and make for a really fantastic setup. Xiang Mei doesn't have anything like that, and it'd be difficult to give her something even close to that since Xiang Mei is so restrictive and already really wants to be paired up with herself. Even if she did get an alternate leader to pair with, that still wouldn't help her extremely small sub pool in the slightest.

Overall, this uuvo just does nothing for Xiang Mei. If you blew the 300k for her on her release like I did, I genuinely feel sorry for you. You deserve something way better than this waste evo materials. Maybe Gungho will see fan complaints and give her a buff down the road, maybe they'll pull an A.Sakuya and change her last-minute, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Why won't they be nice to her?!
Shamix 4 years ago ( 12.0.3 )
At least she's a good sub for... oh. Right.
BreaKBeatZ 4 years ago ( 12.0.3 )
I think Pixel Terra is her optimal sub as a fire healer with her own 3x3 block awakening.
Dragonborn 4 years ago ( 12.0.3 )
You don't need to have all fire healers to run XM. My rainbow team works out just fine. All you need is good heart producing healers like Pandora, Astaroth, Gabriel, etc.

Damage control I agree with. One of the hardest things to do was trying to farm Ilsix with my XM team as it was, now it would be nearly impossible. But you can't really say she has a limited sub pool unless you are limiting it yourself.

There are more than one team slot for a reason. If you are looking for a catch all/win all team, then good luck. They do exist, but if that's all you want, then why would you waste time buying this card in the first place?

Use it for what it's good for, and don't take it into dungeons that might give you trouble if you can't control the damage well.

To call this a bad card, though, because you want to limit her to only fire row healers is ridiculous. If you don't want her, then don't use her. But for me she works fine, and I look forward to having this option when it arrives.

Is rainbow XM really a thing? I’d understand running two attributes instead of just fire in order to expand the subpool. It wouldn’t be grt but it could work ok i guess. A good example would be healer ult Wu Kong bc his active doesn’t break fire orbs. However, a rainbow team sounds so absurdly inefficient to the point that purchasing XM would be questionable.

For example, XM leaders, Wu Kong, Gabriel, Pandora and Michael. Wu Kong’s active takes out water and dark orbs. Now pandora and Gabriel won’t attack. Pandora’s active takes out wood and light orbs. Now Michael and Wukong won’t attack. Gabriel? Michael? Both have the same problem. To make matters worse, these ults with healer typing all have matching main and sub attributes. It’s not as if u get sub attribute damage, u get absolutely nothing. Maybe this is just a coincidence because of the particular units u mentioned but still, why would u want to use an active that takes out two of ur subs? Is this really what u meant by a rainbow team?

Also about this quote-
“If you are looking for catch all/win all team, then good luck. They do exist, but if that’s all you want, then why would you waste time buying this card in the first place?”

Are you addressing Kay? He says he bought XM on release when she was Queen of PAD. He bought her for exactly that, the ultimate team. Maybe it was your choice of words but the real point is that nothing stays on top forever and we shouldn’t expect it to. But even this is arguably irrelevant because I don’t think Kay is necessarily complaining about her not being meta.

By the end of it he says “Overall this uuvo just does nothing for Xiang Mei”. That is exactly right. Nothing much has changed. Her playstyle is the same as Gadius now. She is outclassed by other leaders. Her subpool is an inconvenience. And even if you disagree with the latter, doesn’t this evo just feel underwhelmingly pedestrian? She costs 300k. Look at those evo mats. Is FUA2 going to be so extremely rare among fire units that XM will be coveted? XM’s farm-leaning LS is a fine change but it’s not interesting considering that it’s a dumbed down version (gameplay-wise) of her previous LS.

I personally don’t need her to be meta and I think most people would agree. Just give us something interesting and well balanced. She was meta on release but balanced because of her subpool. Now she’s pretty good but her restrictive subpool doesn’t serve as balance anymore. It’s just an annoyance. The poor balancing makes it feel as though they didn’t put enough thought into this evo.

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe she shouldn’t be interesting. Maybe she should be just gadius. Not everyone has him so I guess XM is their opportunity to experience his playstyle.

I’m almost inclined to believe that this was a troll post. For one thing, astaroth’s active doesn’t produce heart orbs so idk what u meant by “heart producing healers”. Im just all around very confused. Rainbow XM? Am I missing something?

She looks like a fun farm lead for passive play at least. Pretty much gadius playstyle for healers...again. Woulda been interesting if they tried to change things up a little. Like, no skyfall stipulation to her LS but 200+ atk multiplier for a third heart combo? It would give her more dmg control, increasing her viability. How about expanding her sub pool by adding an additional type? Team building could be more interesting. Full row of hearts gives an atk multiplier and/or a shield? Anything to make her a bit more unique would be nice.

I don’t really care if she’s meta or not. I run enough regular dungeons to give all the units I like a fair amount of play. Farming with Xiang Mei looks like a fine time. The problem I have is that she costs 300k MP. If that price tag doesn’t purchase meta status, it should guarantee something interesting.

I suppose thats asking for way too much. I’ll just shut up and hope that Halloween Xiang Mei gets the same treatment.

is she even viable with 2 gadius and uriels?

Yes I clear a lot of content with her current form; even tho it’s out of meta. I run Uriel Gadius NY Mitzuki and Kiriko Another. Pixel terra is a new option as well with a Gadius assist on it.

Does she now have the most rcv in the game?

That honor(?) would belong to Sun Crown Wisedragon, Apolluo, as well as 2000 Days TAMADRA. 2000 RCV.

No,Ideal has 1503 rcv.

Is she released in JP yet? I can't seem to find any videos on her
Kay 4 years ago ( 12.0.3 )
She's out in JP, she's just not all that useful. Everything she can clear can be cleared more easily by other things, and I doubt anyone wants to bother using a sub-optimal leader, especially one as sub-restrictive as Xiang Mei, for the sake of video content.
Zeke in reply to Kay 4 years ago ( 12.0.3 )
as a lead/sub monster, Ideal got the most with 1500, but she's second I think
