What's better, this or super ult Krishna?
Greg! 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
• Has a Time Extend and Skill Bind Resist
• LS affects all Fire units, making him have a bigger subpool
• LS gives a bigger boost to HP and RCV
• Higher HP

Santa Bei:
• Unbindable
• Triple TPA + High ATK
• Makes massive amounts of Fire orbs, and heals
• Needs less Fire orbs to proc LS

From my experience so far, Liu Bei feels very limiting due to his Attacker Type requirement. We miss out on units like Krishna, Kagutsuchi, Tsubaki Ronia etc. Not only that, but he also lacks a Time Extend and an SBR, which, all the more, limits the choices for subs. If done correctly, he is VERY dangerous.

In the right hands, Liu Bei is arguably much better than Krishna.
Shoukon 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
First, to me, 65.61 and 45.5625 is not that huge of a difference.
I think it is a fair trade for Krishna to "sacrifice some ATK in exchange for more HP and Rcv".

Also, the lack of TE (Time-Extend) matters to me.
If I have less orb-movement time, I cannot erase as much non-fire orbs as I always do in Krishna Team, therefore it would be harder for fire orbs to replenish without using orb-changing skills.
Not to mention that in Liu Bei Team I cannot ALWAYS increase the fire-orb skyfall chance like Krishna Team, it makes fire orbs much more difficult to replenish on its own, and I have to rely heavily on orb-changing skills.

But those fire, attacker cards with orb-changing skills usually lack Time-Extends, which is quite unfortunate...

And, Sx is a matter, too.
Liu Bei doesn't have Sx, which means I need at least one Sub who has 2 Sx, and 1 Sx for each of the remaining 3 Subs.

Look at fire attackers who have 2 Sx:
- Awoken / Reincarnated Horus
- Awoken Freyr
- Inuyasha

Well, I don't think I need an Atk buff here, so Freyr is out.
Inuyasha's full-board 5-color change is not that useful, so I won't suggest people using it.
Horus, although the AS isn't too useful for this team which relies on orb-changers, Horus has a short cool-down time, so it doesn't hurt to inherit an orb-changing skill to Horus to make him useful in the team.

As for the remaining 3 subs, I dunno.
Maybe Triple Urd is a viable choice (?)

I guess I will stick to Krishna.

I do not know how you are getting the 3.234x as your total damage increase. Using orb enhances doing 3 matches of 3 orbs all enhanced will result in:
3(matches of 3) * (1 + 0.05*22) * (1 * 0.06 * 3) = 3 * 2.1 * 1.18 = 7.434x fire damage * 1.5 (3 combo) = 11.151x

It is not cumulative to your total damage as you have it for 3.234x like rows where 9 enhanced orbs separated will grant that multiplier. Which would be 1(match of 9) * (1 + 0.05*22) * (1 + 0.06*9) = 3.234x fire damage (* The extra orbs past three, so 6*0.25). This does not activate Krishna's leader skill.

With around 13-15 rows on a row Krishna team the damage from 1 row no OE will be:
(2 + (1 + 0.25*3)) * (1 + 0.1*13) = 3.75*2.3 = 8.625x fire damage * 1.5 (3 combo) = 12.9375x

Obviously this results in 3 more orbs being used, which could instead be used for another OE combo.

So you could do with OE with 4 combos all enhanced:
4(matches of 3) * 2.478 = 9.912x fire damage * 1.75(4 combo) = 17.346x

This is much greater than the row team using an ideal situation versus a situation after an board change without OE on fire. To get the ideal situation for an orb enhance team is either Sanada (who will likely be F/D in OE team) or using 2 actives, which can be a little much.

1 row and with the same low ball average rows, and a low ball of 12 OE:
(2 * (1 + 0.05*12) * (1 * 0.06 * 3) + (1 + 0.25*3) * (1 + 0.05*12) * (1 + 0.06*6)) * (1 + 0.1*13)
= (2 * 1.888 + 1.75 * 2.176) * 2.3
= 17.4432x fire dmage * 1.5(3 combo) = 26.1648x

Now comparing the burst of both teams assuming the best boards and simplest setup using Ilm/Ronia inherit and an OE active.

OE team:
5 * 2.478 = 12.39x fire damage * 3.25 (10 combo) = 40.2675x

Row team:
3 * (1.75 * 2.176) * 2.3 = 26.2752x fire damage * 2 (5 combo) = 52.5504x

Row Krishna is still stronger and I used a low average for the rows and OE, some may have 2 more rows, and others may have 2-4 more OE. You could use rows in the OE team but that depends if it is worth sacrificing 0.5 for the combo multiplier for each row made.
In the situation that you are conserving fire orbs and only using 9 but more combos than row teams it can be a bit stronger with the extra combo, even if it is not fire.

Since this is Liu Bei's page I might as well do the burst potential with Liu Bei

The team will be:
Liu Bei, Urd, Urd, Shiva, Horus, Liu Bei
Horus or Shiva has Ronia/Ilm inherit.

I will use an average of 2 TPA for this team, as there are 2 with 3, 2 with 1 and 2 with 2, but the damage will vary between cards. There are 12 OE.

The ideal burst:
4 * 2.25 (TPA) * 1.25 (4 orbs) * (1.6 * 1.24) (OE) = 22.32x fire damage * 2.25 (6 combo) = 50.22x

If you consider Krishna's leader skill vs Liu Bei's leader skill it is 45.5625 vs 65.61.
Liu Bei's leader skill damage is 1.44x stronger than Krishna's

So his burst compared to Krishna is:
50.22 * 1.44 = 72.3168x

Disclaimer: All calculations above do not include Krishna's leader skill for the multiplier.

Edit: I made a mistake with OE burst... It should be 5 fire combos not 6. I visually thought I could move things around for a row board without messing things up. There might be a way to get 6, but that would not be the simplest.

TL;DR: This guy is basically a more offensively-oriented Krishna.
Compared to Krishna, his defenses are a bit weaker, topping out at 1.82 for HP and RCV, but the attack is increased by 2/3rds, topping out at 65.52.
Their subs are basically the same - most of the best Krishna subs are fire attackers anyways (Sanada, Urd, Yamato), so the attackers restriction isn't that bad. However, having no SBR makes Awoken Freya or REvo Horus (with SI) an necessity.

Fair question.

Krishna offers slightly better tanking and works with all fire subs while Liu Bei has a significantly higher ATK multiplier but only really works with Attacker types.

Awakenings and actives also play a big role differentiating the leads, as LB is unbindable but lacks an SBR (Greg Exclamation Point has some solutions here), and LB's TPAs more than make up for the 1 OE while also restricting him slightly (Krishna can work with 9 fire orbs just fine while LB needs 10). Also with Krishna you'll be seeing a steady amount of fire orbs, not so much with LB's 10 turn CD and lack of increased skyfall.

Overall I'd say Liu Bei is a little riskier for a fair bit more reward vs Krishna, but the Attacker restriction and lack of SRB means you'll have far fewer team options.

I just really wish LB's LS worked with Dragons too...
Kirihiko in reply to Greg! 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
Minor correction; LB's and Krishna's LSes both have the same 2/3 fire combo requirements.

Also I forgot about Krishna's TE, as you mentioned a whole second with double leads makes a fair difference and leaves LB feeling even riskier. :/
Greg! in reply to Kirihiko 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
Ah sorry, what I meant is that Krishna runs on rows, whereas Santa Bei runs on TPAs—making him require less Fire orbs to maximize damage.

And yes, I've been too spoiled with Time Extends that I'm already having a hard time with this guy :(

greml1n in reply to Greg! 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
Actually, my Krishna runs on orb enhance and haste to use a skill every turn. 18 OE currently; about to become 22... rows are just a bonus if you have extra orbs you want to use.

Bigger sub pool with more 'system' like options and tanky HP boost and frankly Krishna's enhanced fire orb rate still makes Krishna better imho, but I haven't fully explored this cards potential.

I think Krishna can be more reliable for more content with enough rows, but Liu Bei can hit harder on trash floors that require 2 fire combos.

I wont do calculations (someone else can if they want) but I will provide an example for both teams.

Sanada Yukimura F/F
Uriel, Yamato Takeru or Sanada Yukimura F/D*
Awoken Cao Cao or Awoken Leilan

*F/F Sanada if you are never doing no dupe
**Femme, Ronia, Leilan, Yamato Takeru, Belial, Red Riding Hood, Laila skill inherit sub, other row subs or utility

Santa Liu Bei
Santa Bei
Reincarnated Shiva (or a better TPA & TE sub)
Reincarnated Horus or Awoken Freyr
Santa Bei

***Second Urd, Awoken Leilan, Femme, Rozuel, Set, Awoken Ares
If you have access to colab cards: Kinnikuman, Kenshiro, Misato, Harley Quinn, Squall

While Krishna has a large amount of subs available to him, and certainly good row subs Santa Liu Bei is still great if you have some of the great fire attackers for his team. Fire does have many Fire attackers that are good, and some are good even if they do not have a TPA like Yamato Takeru, Sanada Yukimura, Belial, Napoleon or the best PaD Heroine Ilmina.

The greatest drawback of Santa Liu Bei is the need to have someone like Horus or Freyr that give 2 SBR.
Both Krishna and Santa Liu Bei will have roughly the same amount of TE if you have the better subs for each team, as more attackers have TE than good row subs.
If you lack the good subs for both teams Krishna is still better even without rows because of his flexibility and ability to stall. Santa Liu Bei might struggle stalling because of attackers lacking RCV.

Lastly, Krishna could still do more damage than Santa Liu Bei with enough rows and Sanada's enhance.

I think it's a matter of style. Now if you just spend money and buy monsters you already probably have both and will switch them out once in a while to change things up. An attacker team is not difficult to build. Latent tamadras are a thing so you can GIVE Liu Bei TE or inherit a skill that allows you extra time. You can give Krishna some +'s to make him hit harder if his immense damage isn't already good enough for you (I've had no problem completely whipping the floor with Zeus and his descended buddies, Zaerog is a challenge for everyone).
Personally I prefer skyfall over orb change so I can avoid the risk of linking 16 fire orbs for a 1.5 multiplier but that's just me.
greml1n in reply to StaticG 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
You are discounting the OE's... with 22 orb enhances single player I'm getting a x3.234 multiplier in addition to the leader skills if matching the minimum 9 orbs to fully activate the leader skill. The numbers go up if more orbs are part of the match (which is also compatible with TPA's for single cards and rows where available). Multiplayer if both are using similar subs with 34 OE's the team gets an additional x4.158 on that minimum 9 orb match. And; that play style is very conducive to high combo rates and sky falls further ratcheting up the damage potential.

Very similar to making two rows of fire every turn; except to activate LS using rows you would need 15 orbs and your combo count would go down most of the time.
greml1n in reply to StaticG 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
Oh... "Which would be 1 * (1 + 0.05*22) * (1 + 0.06*9) = 3.234x fire damage."

That was exactly the math I was doing... thought it was the total number of matched (fire) orbs that included a plus in the match... didn't realize it was the highest number in the single largest match.

Thank you for doing the breakdown.
Anode 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
All these about them as a leader, but now I'm more curious, which is better as a sub?
StaticG in reply to greml1n 4 years ago ( 9.2.1 )
Yeah, orb enhances are like the middle ground of two-pronged attacks and Rows.
Rows apply to everyone for all damage (of the specific colour) made at the end.
TPA apply to the individual card for the individual match.
OE apply to everyone, but it is the individual match.

GOSH DARN do I need more friends who use this guy. He's a BEAST!

TPA-based Krishna team! My current team has 50k HP, but slightly lacks in RCV.

I think the biggest challenge with using this guy is, he has no SBR! You'll be forced to use Attacker units with 2 or more SBRs, and the subpool is very limited especially since you kinda wanna stick to Fire.

In total, there are only 17 units that are ATTACKER, and have 2 SBRs. Only three of these are Fire:
• Horus
• Inuyasha
• Awoken Freyr

So! You could forego the Attacker typing, and have a bit of your overall stats (HP, ATK, RCV) compromised. You now have access to:
• Antares
• Onion Knight
• Baldin
• Chester

Or you could just use the SBR badge, or play in multiplayer to solve all this lol

I guess this is the price we have to pay for having such an awesome Leader Skill. I have yet to find more friends who use this guy!

@Greg I am running this CLB team and it wrecks things:

CLB / CC / Urd / A.Ares / A.Freyr
5 SBR and 13 TPA

I jumped on the "Krishna train" and evo'd mine and tried like 10 different team combinations and just couldn't find a flavor that I liked. I guess he is just not my play style. Then I pulled this awesome guy from the REM and was sooo excited!! I have a bunch of Fire attackers so it was EZPZ to put a team together. I will send you an invite.

Just to keep this comment up to date, Ult. Kenshiro now has 2 SBR as well (Physical/Attacker), and he's a fairly ideal sub with 3 TPAs and a fun leader skill.

I'm late to the discussions. I tried to post when I cleared Arena 1 with him on Friday but this page wasn't up yet, and anything useful I can say has already been said lol. This card is incredibly strong. Cleared Arena with Ace Horus, A. Freyr, Yamato, and Set as subs. Missing one SLR for 100% but didn't cause me any issues during my run. Team isn't ideal but hits like a truck. I don't have Krishna so this was a nice alternative. RCV and HP are really nice. My build had about 46k hp. Goes over 50k when paired with Krishna. Easy to stall for skills. I was able to one shot kali easily.
