Paladins, known for having higher HP and less Recovery abilities than Dark Knights.

Yeah, I feel like he should have been Physical/Healer... They probably kept the Attacker only because of the Dark Knight.
Fierystar 4 years ago ( 8.7.0 )
Well technically, this one has 2x RCV for leader skill and the other version only has 1.5x. 4Head

Paladins in FF have way more recovery abilities...

Thank you for adding Cecil!! ^__^ I was so sad when they left him out! He has one of the best character arcs in a game I've ever seen~!
Zabi 4 years ago ( 8.7.0 )
I'm so happy they added him too, ahh!

Now if only they added Golbez. But Zeromus stole that role.

Dark knight Cecil be like, "got your back bro."

For the updated 7x6 leader skill, it should include 3x RCV
Spooled UP 9 months ago ( 17.2.0 )
Just adding to your info update to clarify it's 3x RCV for Light Attribute only :)
By Vermillion 4 years ago ( 8.6.2 )
I guess they want us to pair him with Saria as an alternate to Thor? I think his multiplier is still on the low side though, upping his additional multiplier from matching L/D to 2.5x seems to be reasonable too as compared to Thor

-I'm not sure if the -0.5x trade off of rcv for +0.75 atk is worth or make such a different for a tank team
-Generally worse awakenings and not complement with Saria which is all about rows
-This is an UEVO(!), if they're not going to bring the atk multiplier up(or anything to make it better), the good awakenings must be apparent.

Because as a sub, Apocalypse is better in this role.
Moldy 4 years ago ( 8.6.2 )
Alternatively, he could just be his own leader. That is an option.

Two hypermaxed Cecils as the leader alone would give nearly 12K HP and 3K RCV, which, while worse than two hypermaxed Blonias, are still impressive numbers.

Having a SBR and two time extends means that he doesn't require as many subs with SBR, and even doesn't need a single TE on any of his subs.

In the end, 16x attack could be considered on the low side of "high-damage leaders" these days, but it's still 16x attack and 4x recovery.
Vermillion in reply to Moldy 4 years ago ( 8.6.2 )
I think you're missing the point of how important it is to pair with Saria(or similar such as Cloud) and not Thor or any others. Pairing with himself is pretty much an upgraded version of using Ronia with Ronia, it is an option and viable to most but high end descends as he is neither able to constantly burst hard enough nor survive big hit.

Blonia and most of her optimal subs are physical which allows her team to reach 30k HP with help of plus eggs(the same can't be achieved by Cecil's) and she comes with 2 rows herself while L.Cecil spot only one tpa AND being a bicolor lead doesn't help either which pretty much forbid you from using Raphael unless by miracle you also have Balanciel(which is just as hard to roll).

In the end, just like Norse/Dragonbound, he is not a "high-damage leaders", he is a tank leader and being a tank leader but unable to survive the hit is not a good thing.
Moldy in reply to Vermillion 4 years ago ( 8.6.2 )
True, he may not be as effective as Blonia being able to hit 37K HP and 15K RCV(however, that's with Blodin and two dupe Blonias), but take a look at this team that I made up off the top of my head:

Paladin Cecil
A. Amaterasu
Dragon Rider, King Arthur
L. Kali
Thunder Horn Master, Fuma Kotaro
Paladin Cecil

Fully hypermaxed, this team would have 29,924 HP and 13,456 RCV. While still 7K HP away from Blonia, it's certainly respectable, and L. Kali can be swapped out for something to easily bring that HP above 30K.

Not only that, but Ama works for binds (though there are certainly plenty of other Light bind removers), Fuma for a non-Heart and non-Dark -> Light orb change, and King Arthur for a double orb change for Dark and Light.

Sure, it certainly isn't as optimal as Blonia, as there aren't as many effective orb changers that cover Light without taking away Dark, but how many people can get four six-star GFEs (not to mention that three are dupes) for a Blonia team rather than just get one Cecil and plenty of less frustrating REM cards to obtain?

In conclusion, I think that's it should be obvious that Cecil's certainly not as tanky as Blonia. She's a six-star GFE; it's kinda expected that they should be that powerful. So that's the comparison there.

I'd type more on Saria and Thor, but this is already getting a bit long and it'd be rude to not let you respond before then, hyuk.
Vermillion in reply to Moldy 4 years ago ( 8.6.2 )
That is the problem with Cecil, tri-board color need to have something to combo with to make a good burst and having to rely on King Arthur to combo with is rely too much on luck as you may flood the board with too much dark and cripple your damage greatly with that team you have:

-2 row and only 8 tpas, unlike row, tpa rely on everyone to have an average of 2 tpas on each sub to be comparable in damage to row, so you have no real way of ditching damage.

-LKali is there just for awakenings, there's not a lot of reason to use her outside of rainbow lead.

-You certainly needs heart breaker to combo with Cecil's active beside Arthur and the only one that doesn't kill dark and have more than 1 tpa is mini Valk which doesn't make it any better being in a special rem.

Cecil being a 6 stars gold eggs in a collab rem might be even more frustrating than getting another six-star GFEs, and no, Blonia doesn't make it more or less frustrating than Cecil, you can even put Amberjack(farmable) in there to chain with Karin, you can even put Ilsix there if nothing else and it's still as good or better than chaining Cecil with Arthur.

The reason I used Blonia as a comparison is because you mentioned it. I wouldn't make Blonia as a comparison to anything not just because she's 6 stars GFE but because she's probably the only one that made such a feat possible, very high rcv multiplier, very high HP by herself together with her sub but I said that already. No one should pair a supposedly made for tank, high rcv multiplier lead to themself, even her sisters can't do that. Just like no one would pair awoken Norse with itself.

You however can definitely do that if we weren't talking about those high-end descends where you have to either burst really hard constantly or able to survive then burst when able to.
Moldy in reply to Vermillion 4 years ago ( 8.6.2 )
If you're going to go back to my first response, then I'm not sure why we're discussing this in such depth in the first place. (Or maybe I ended up going to too much depth, aiunno. xp)

In said comment, I never argued that he was a viable end-game leader at all, even saying, "while worse than two hypermaxed Blonias, are still impressive numbers" when I did briefly mention Blonia.

However, ultimately, I do have to concede to the point of his orb changers being way to limiting for him. Having to use two or more orb changers just for one good attack (or have very specific subs, kinda like pre-ult DMeta, except not as powerful) certainly hurts him, as Light and Dark tend to conflict too frequently, as opposed to, say, the Chinese goddesses.

Though that being said, now that I think about it, 16x ATK and 4x RCV with a larger base HP seems kinda like a step to the side in comparison to, say, Awoken Haku. Only problems being (of course) the orb changers, lack of haste, less awakenings, and being more exclusive.

No, if we weren't talking about viable end-game in the first place then there's no point to discuss this since the beginning because I actually started the conversation with Saria x Thor pairing comparison which supposedly, based on your arguing, we wouldn't have this conversation if you had known Saria x Thor is an end game pairing.

How do you get light Cecil? He seems to be a (u)evo for dark cecil, but the evo tree only shows the dark one ...

He's an alt uevo.

If you're going to Py this guy, you can alternate between Badpy and Shynpy using his alternate evolution.

Saves you some bad/shyn pys if you need to save some for the future.

Which Ult Evo you guys recommend for Cecil. I like the L/D, but that's mainly because of looks. But I'm no so sure about stats wise since I'm fairly new to PAD.
Any help is greatly appreciated. =)

Personally I will be making D/D mostly because he keeps devil type which is great for my awoken luci terms of leader skill D/D is arguably better. He compares well to Zaerog8 who is arguably one of the best endgame farmable leads.

I know everyone is lusting after D/D Cecil but I am going for L/D cecil personally for 3 reasons.

1. FF fanboy and lore. I just am biased towards Paladin Cecil.

2. He can be quite useful as a 25x tank team for me.

3. Even if I don't use him as a lead I can use him as a sub for Superman.
By Prospero 4 years ago ( 8.7.0 )
I got Cecil the other day and immediately made him into D/d version. Was a tough decision. This version is no slouch 5x attack with 2x rcv is quite spectacular. I don't know of another card that offers this. I hope I roll another Cecil because I'd really like to have this version as well. So tanky and the 5x will blow through anything.
The only saving grace is that the evo mats are not difficult to obtain at all so at least if I don't whale up another, going from dark to light won't be difficult at all. This guy is so good.....
