Somehow got on RNGesus' good graces with a GZL pull during the mid-February Godfest and a Liu Bei pull during the first Three Kingdoms' Godfest. Just need two Red Dragon Fruits and a Keeper of Forest to get this Ultimate Evolution. *anticipation intensifies*

UPDATE: FINALLY evolved my Liu Bei into this bloodthirsty behemoth a few hours ago after a long and arduous journey. When I pulled him last year during the Three Kingdom Series' NA debut in 2014, I was just thankful for pulling one of those gods even though I wasn't sure of his usefulness at the time. I never would have thought that GungHo would give him such a massive buff with this Ultimate Evolution.

By 玉折@HG 5 years ago ( 8.1.1 )
Well Sun Quan and Cao Cao already have background info and I can't find anything on Liu Bei, so here goes:

Liu Bei is the weakest of the three emperor-generals -- he doesn't have the great location and resources Sun Quan had, and he didn't have the brains Cao Cao had. However, what he lacked in skill, he possessed in charisma -- Liu Bei frequently didn't plan or fight his battles. Early on he forged a brotherhood with Guan Yu and Zhang Fei in a peach garden, who'd later find themselves amongst the best generals of the 3K era, outclassed by Lu Bu in power but unrivaled in their loyalty. Liu Bei first got a taste of military life after shutting down a minor rebellion, subsequently gaining ground until by the time of Dong Zhuo's defeat he had a sizeable army of followers behind him. Early on he allied with Cao Cao against Yuan Shao but eventually formed a rivalry after their interests began to conflict. For a couple years, Cao Cao pushed him farther and farther west, but on the way Liu Bei amassed a huge number of followers that included such names as Ma Chao, Zhuge Liang and Zhao Yun. The rivalry came to a climax at the Battle of Chi Bi, where Liu Bei ultimately defeated Cao Cao in a tactic developed by Zhuge Liang, and the vast majority of Cao Cao's forces were wiped out. However, owing to Wei's better location and larger territory, the two kingdoms fought at a stalemate -- and Liu Bei's generals fell, one by one, to the fight. Eventually, Liu Bei was defeated after being mortally wounded in a battle against minor Wei general Lu Xun. He had the charisma to ally with the best and brightest of his era, possessing a skill in diplomacy no other warlord of the time could match.
The AS name comes from his overwhelming victory at Chi Bi where he completely turned the tables on Cao Cao's army (which outnumbered his by a factor of more than 100:1 -- in fact Cao Cao should have been defeated there and then, but he escaped after a squabble within Liu Bei's own allied forces). The LS name originates from his emphasis on loyalty: his armies were more or less comprised of volunteers enthusiastic to his cause while Cao Cao's was comprised of captured forces from opposing states -- hence, Cao Cao's larger forces and Liu Bei's smaller forces.

Generally correct in the earlier stages about Liu Bei, but there are a lot of factual problems in latter part of his tale:

* While Liu Bei's army played a significant role in the Battle of Chi Bi, Wu (Sun Quan's faction) army was the main army that engaged Wei (Cao Cao's faction) and carried out the fateful fire attack. So in a strict sense, Wu drove back Wei

* Liu Bei main generals (Guan Yu, Zhang Fei) and Jing Province did not fall to Wei; they fell to Wu.

* Lu Xun was not from Wei; he was from Wu. He was not a "minor general", he's the commander in chief of Wu's army during the battle in which Liu Bei was defeated.

* Liu Bei's last battle (Battle of Xiao Ting) was defeated by Wu. Wei just watched and laugh at the two former allies fighting each other, incurring losses from both sides that were never recovered in the era. He was not wounded; he just died of sickness and shame a year later.

Liu Bei was, no doubt, extremely charismatic. It was a miracle that he could build his kingdom; but his personality flaw, his unrestrained pride after becoming a king, was what caused his downfall. Against most of his advisers' advices, he chose to war with Wu, even though Sun Quan tried everything reasonable to repay for killing Guan Yu. He also vastly underestimated Lu Xun, which led to his ultimate defeat . Hence, he better be restrained after becoming a dragon hero!

I Like the Heal in the Active Skill. Some may say that the active skill doesn't synergize well witrh GZL, but I would just save his active as a "last resort" for Orb changing. If you get trolled and can't make orbs any other way, then the Heal is probably needed anyway. I have gotten into many troubles with my GZL team where I get Orb trolled (even with 3 orb changers) and have a synced pair about to go off in one round. I could have used Liu Bei's active, and even if it healed me above 80%, just stall to take the hit to bring me back down below 80%. With his max cool down being 10 turns, his active will be the last one to be available in a max skilled team anyway. I am thinking that with 3 TPA's, I may never have to use his active anyway.

B-but I was saving those red dragon fruits for Ronia! Stupid sexy dragon rider.
By Ricochet 5 years ago ( 7.8.1 )
I was looking to pull different cards that work with what I currently have.

Started with a Nanto Suichoken Master, Rei, lead building a stable of blue and red attackers along the way. He was my intro to TPA.
Picked up a Claymore at random. Discovered double TPA.
Pulled a Ronia and immediately began building a devil team.

All the while I had Liu Bei sitting in my box admiring Guan Yu's beard and lamenting his own lack of facial hair. The situation got worse as a second Guan Yu came along instead of something new for my attacker or devil teams.

Hoping for anything but a repeat pull. I hurled 5 magic stones at the yellow dragon with all my might. Laughing at my ignorance, the RNG spit a second Liu Bei at me.

Fine, I thought. When PAD gives you Liu-mons, make Liu-monade! I (s)trained my Liu-mon once and was unimpressed. But then I re-strained him and threw 7 Tamadras into the recipe and something magical happened. It gave him a very "prong" flavor.

Now every monster that encounters this creation bows before it in reverence.

I'm not fully decided if I will repeat this process with Liu Bei #2, as the color synergy with Guan Yu and Avalon could become a factor if I were to make use of his divine form. It may depend on what other friends I can pull to share him with and whether Ronia gets impatient with Red Dragon Fruits or Verdandi decides to pay me a visit.

In the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying my restrained Liu Bei!

It seems like the Heroes of the Three Kingdoms series is going to get the two-ultimate-evolutions treatment, wherein one Ultimate gets a superior Leader Skill but maintains the Awoken Skills, and the other gets way superior Awoken Skills, but maintains the Leader Skill (just like the Chinese Gods).

I wonder what kind of treatment Lu Bu is going to get...Double (or triple) Dark Row Enhance? Skill Bind Resist? Who knows!! I'm freaking excited!

c badmin 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Zhuge Liang's basically the real hero of Romance of the Three Kingdoms once he's introduced. He even outlives Liu Bei.
Skyknight in reply to c badmin 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Although in history, those two weren't really heroic at all. (Now Cao Cao and Ding Feng...) The Romance drew more from Chinese opera (which in turn was informed by folklore, itself informed by a ridiculously pro-Shu piece of propaganda) than from actual history.

Holy.... his previous evo was already nice for GZL but this...... the damage from a double/triple TPA activation is gonna be HILARIOUS!
Espadas in reply to RXjester 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
While you are correct about that possibility, i'm usually more worried about skyfalling heart combos.
With Liu Bei's active, you know exactly what is gonna happen and how much health you are gaining so you can evaluate if you want to use it or not.
RXjester 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
I think the synergy is not entirely there since Liu Bei's active can mess GZL up if you go over the hp threshold. But still, 3 TPAs is so tempting to use
Phoenix in reply to RXjester 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
It just would require more strategy with taking enough of a hit to be able to use his skill. And since I usually try to be able to accidentally match 1-2 sets of hearts because of sky falls, being 3000 below isn't a deal. And hey, sometimes you may not can use the skill, but you don't just have to as you should have plenty of other orb changers. All of this is just such small potatoes because of those 3 TPAs. It should be noted that he is the highest attack of the monsters with 3 TPAs that have been released so far. This means that after the first TPA his attack becomes 2558. That is what you compare to others that have 2 TPAs to determine potential damage output. Which means he edges out Beelzebub's ulti for highest potential damage from one individual. And that is with no +'s, if you did have +99 his attack would be 3300 after the first TPA awakening is factored. After all 3? 7425 from 1 set of four with no combos or leader bonuses. On GZL's team in the damage zone 118,800 *cries softly to myself* Liu bei just instantly went from one of my lowest priority monsters to my first.
NthDegree in reply to RXjester 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
JP only, but Tien disagrees with that statement.
Stoy in reply to RXjester 5 years ago ( 7.3.0 )
Nice of you to point that out, but as a GZL user, I think I can speak for others like me that this is probably the perfect sub. The damage potential alone is too great to worry about the active healing you. You can just not use it. If the active was "remove all green orbs from the board" I would still use him. When you run GZL you know your 80% threshold and you know what enemies are going to hit you for (if at all, after floor 1), so its not like you are ever going to be surprised.

Btw, just using him the last couple days, he's bonkers.
By Walrus 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
So much easier to evolve than Awoken Hino-Kagutsushi and so much better.
Bryggyth 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
TBH I like Kagutsuchi better for more HP and I prefer his skill a little bit. Ignoring the slightly shorter cooldown, both skills are amazing double orb changes, but Kagutsuchi's I feel can actually make it easier to get combos and TPA sometimes.
If you have too many of one attribute it can be a mess to try to isolate one set of 4, which might be a factor when using Lie Bei's skill. Kagutsuchi's does not create only fire orbs, it creates fire and dark, so it isn't all focused on one attribute.

It is mostly just a matter of opinion, but I think Kagutsuchi is a tiny bit better in some cases. At the same time they both have their uses, such as Liu Bei having an HP recover while Kagutsuchi lowers defense greatly.
Plus the subtypes are different. IDK exactly why Kagutsuchi got physical (I think these 2 monsters should have the same subtypes xD) but that would also be a factor in determining which is more useful for each dungeon.
And obviously the different attributes have different benefits etc.

Dragon/Attacker and Tripple prong is amazing but the prong would take awhile to get since tamadras are a pain to get sometimes (No, tamadra village is out of the question, I don't have enough coins nor the patience to do weekends dungeons, sorry) and Light liu has HP Boost and 3.5X attack boost then 3X, kinda makes him like L.metatron but i may be missing something here, Would love for some advice on which is best ult, i have the material for both and plan on Evo ult my Liu bei when it becomes available.

Thanks :)

Apparently the only issue is your patience because there's nothing wrong with running tam village to get this guy fully awoken.....and it inly takes about 4-6 weekend runs to get to 10mil (depending on your situation) and can easily be done in half an hour

Attacker vs Balanced.

Anywho, it shouldnt matter, unless you want to pair somebody like GZL as another sub, then just fill the team further with more attackers.
DKnight 5 years ago ( 7.8.1 )
He's a beast on a Verdandi team. Doesn't really matter with the type since Verdandi's leader skill syncs with his wood/fire attributes perfectly. One TPA just nukes most trash floors. On the boss floor just pop Verdandi then Liu Bei and make as many wood and fire TPA and watch the fireworks.

I just got a 2nd Liu Bei in the PCGF on my alt account for Verdandi. So happy as that was my one good roll out of 15 on main and alt account together (dupe mei mei was my 2nd best roll).

To be honest, the three TPA's is overkill.
I've been running him on my Verdandi team and he's not actually got one of his TPA's screamin' yet due to no Tama's, but I'll tell you what. The benefit he provides right now without them makes him an amazing bat for the team either way.
So yeah, you're totally right, he's amazing for Verdandi, but it isn't due to those TPA's alone, that's just gravy.
By Tyriks 5 years ago ( 7.5 )
I'm just starting to tackle easier descends, and I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on if I'd be better off having a GZL team with this Liu Bei as a sub or Liu Bei leading with GZL as a sub? The past few times I've tried a descend I've had unavoidable skyfall heals that put me too high to deal damage just as I get to the boss. It seems like Liu Bei might be worth sacrificing the .5x attack to avoid that. Anyone have thoughts?
Guest 5 years ago ( 7.5 )
Try it out
Tyriks in reply to Guest 5 years ago ( 7.5 )
To do so, I need to level and evo/ult evo two or three monsters, plus awaken them, which is a heavy investment. If the result isn't that spectacular, I'd rather invest that energy elsewhere, hence me asking ahead of time.
meta in reply to Tyriks 5 years ago ( 7.5.1 )
I personally would still do it. Even if those monsters aren't placed into the same team, they might be used on another or even for a specific dungeon that prevents you from using certain leaders. Example: GZL kills on those heart restricted dungeons or those that have a lot of preemptives but just be careful about Liu Bui's active, it can heal above that 80%
By thewinner 5 years ago ( 7.5.1 )
How does multiple TPA work. do they just keep multiplying?

Exactly: for this guy in particular, it would be 1.5x1.5x1.5=3.375xattack on two enemies. It will always be on two enemies, no matter how many rows of 4 you get.

I've also been messing around with Shotel instead of Woodsie for a bigger attacker burst on bosses yet getting the bonus HP on the floors and for preemptive attacks.

Why would you put a king woodsie on that team? Your only balance characters are the verdandi's. Look for another green attacker to work with GZL or a green/red to work with verdandi's leader skill.
Ricochet 5 years ago ( 8.0.4 )
I would have to agree. Pretty sure the majority of your damage is coming from Liu Bei and GZL, so a boost to attackers might make more sense. Of course, it doesn't matter as much if you don't "need" to do full damage potential for a dungeon.

I'm still looking for an ideal leader for my green TPA team. I don't have a Verdandi, which seems good for an unconditional LS that doesn't require activation, but I'd be curious to know if the .5x - .8x trade-off is worth the off-typing?

Right now I use an off-color leader for 2.5x when I don't have to worry about the dungeon. If the dungeon requires more, I'll run one of my Liu Bei evolutions or GZL as lead.

For example, Let's say I am under 50% HP with your team:
Verdanadi LS gives me x3 to all and I use GZL's AS which gives x2 to attackers.

Verdanadi gets x9
Liu Bei gets x18
GZL gets x18
Vishnu gets x9
Woodsie gets x9
Verdandi gets x9

Now let's say I use a green attacker team with this make-up (using Zhang Fei leaders because his LS boost is unconditional with RDH Liu Bei in the team, and the others just because they are green attackers I have to replace the off-type monsters in your team):

Zhang Fei gets x12.5
Liu Bei gets x12.5
GZL gets x12.5
GDE Liu Bei gets x12.5
King Flamie gets x12.5
Zhang Fei gets x12.5

Which team would put out the most damage during GZL's activation?

This isn't about what team is better, and we both have the option to run GZL or Liu Bei as leader, but then would have to manage our HP to get the better attack boost. The question I have is whether the x18 to two monsters is better than the 12.5 to every monster?

This guy is so op.

At this point I think he's solidly inferior to Vishnu on everything but a Verdandi team. But maybe I'm just bitter at my breakout success at collecting Liu Bei's and failures to get Vishnus.

I have one Vishnu level maxed. Check out my profile for my ID, and send me a request if you are looking for someone with a Vishnu.

Could someone please explain to me how exactly TPA multipliers interact between a team?

Awoken Bastet - green/red - 1 tpa
norn verdandi - green/red - 1 tpa
liu bei - green/red - 3 tpa
umisachi - blue/green - 2 tpa
GZL - green/dark - 2 tpa
awoken bastet - green/red - 1 tpa

On my team I have 10 total TPAs
green - 10 tpa
red - 6 tpa
blue - 2 tpa
dark - 2 tpa

Suppose I match 4x does that affect my overall attack?
Does each Bastet get a 1.5x muliplter, and liu bei get a 1.5^3 multiplier? or does each green attribute card (if they have a TPA) get a 1.5^10 (a 57.66 x) multipler?
Does umisachi get a tpa multiplier on his green sub type?

Suppose I match 4x does that affect my overall attack?
Does liu bei get 1.5^3 for red only? or does he also get 1.5^x for green?

I'm not particularly familiar w/ the TPA world, so I ask in ignorance wanting to know (my google searching fails me).

I'll try to break this down but number crunching isn't my forte. Some basic rules about prong.

1. TPA only applies to the card that has it. This is different from rows and orb enhances. So never count your overall TPAs (like you do with rows and OEs). You must count by card. If you have 6 TPAs on a team but each member only has one, that is sometimes less powerful than having two Liu Bei's who have 3 each.

2. TPA mutiplies attack by x1.5. Two TPA is x2.25. Three TPA is x3.375. And four TPA (currently exclusive to Awoken Orochi) is x5.0625 for matching one TPA match assuming no orb enhances. It's not 1.5*3, it's 1.5^3.

If you match 7 combos with Bastet while not using an active, if we exclude the multiplier from matching combos (which is its own number crunching animal) then we have x16.

Liu Bei will get a TPA multiplier before that is applied and will become x54 (iirc, don't quote me). Bastet will get a TPA multiplier of x1.5 only as she has one TPA. Liu Bei's TPAs will NOT apply to her (that would be broken to hell and back).

Regarding how TPA interacts with the element of the card.

1. TPA only applies to the attribute that got the 4-orb match. If you match 4 fire orbs but no wood orbs, Liu Bei gets x3.375 plus whatever else to his FIRE only. No wood.

2. So to answer your question, if you match a wood TPA and U&Y is on the team, yes, his green sub-attribute but NOT his water attribute will get x2.25!

I hope this helps, if you ever receive this.

Liu Bei, it's good to be dragon that i more wanted but he is not more god for this uvo.
By forwegjpn 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Zhao Yun seems like an OP leader now.
Snow 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Zhao Yun change L.Skill himself to support 2 UVO form Liu Bei
Pre-Evo Zhao Yun L.Skill Support this form... that's mean you must'n evo Zhao Yun if you wish to use him as leader, that's suck

For me, this guy is best fit with G.Guan Yu and Verdandi pt
Great with Osiris and Vishnu pt
and if you don't care about 3 Kingdom's fiction, he can join his rival Cao Cao as well

Ugh, he would have been such a good Athena sub, did he have to ditch that God typing for freaking dragon?
CatsemanSA 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Well you could still put Athena in liu Being team. Less HP, but hella TPA.

Can someone explain why this active is 10x better than the special god (Guan Yu) that only converts heart to wood, and recovers 3000 hp?
manesero 5 years ago ( 8.1.1 )
It isn't better. It's just different.

Guan also converts poison to wood. That's a huge thing if you get a board full of poison (beezlbub).
By JimBeam 5 years ago ( 8.0.4 )
just what about this guy is "Restrained"? certainly aint his art. stats? nope. typing? nope. active/leader skill? lolno. what about his awakenings? you must be joking.

If anything "restrained" covers his cheaper ult better.
By MacDaddy69 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
OMG I bet they're gonna give an ult to Lu Bu last... D: WHY GUNGTROLL!?
nathan@N17 in reply to axlpowa@PF 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Because in my opinion she's the weaker one. Lu bu will definitely be last, I'm pretty positive devil teams are the clear winner as of right now
axlpowa@PF 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
or is it gonna be DQXQ... She's the only one with a sub element after all..
Stephen 6 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Lu Bu is actually being used now by people with their Red Sonias. It definitely makes sense when the lesser used monsters get their UEvos before others in their pantheons.
El Niño 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Usually they'll release the ult evo of the most unpopular God of the series. Liu Bei is the worst in this series but now he's flying with triple TPA.
Skyknight in reply to El Niño 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
The Ssu-Ling order didn't put Byakko last, though, and I think she was always the most popular of the four. The order actually went on a yang-to-yin spectrum: Suzaku/Fire/full yang, Seiryuu/Wood/yang dominating yin, Byakko/Metal/yin dominating yang, Genbu/Water/full yin. (Yes, I'm aware that in-game, Seiryuu and Genbu's elements should be swapped. Don't ask me why GungHo allocated them as they did.) Yang and yin balanced, by the way, would be Kouryuu/Earth.

By Vayle 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Good card. Probably a great GZL sub. But Marine Rider Bard has a bit better awakening loadout. Also Bard takes one of the orbs Liu here converts.
By Tony 5 years ago ( 7.3.0 )
So, I regret feeding away GZL. Hahaha, but I think it's okay. I make myself think that I'll roll another one, but he's as rare as trying to roll for a red odin. :(
Stoy 5 years ago ( 7.3.0 )
What would you possibly feed GZL to? The only thing I can think of that would be ok is another GZL. And that would only be ok if it was your 7th GZL
nathan@N17 5 years ago ( 7.3.0 )
Except i have 2. They apparently said f××× you and gave me your replacement
