Considering their similarities, I tried to figure out who's a better lead: Gravis or d.Izanami.

They have similar leader skills: 4x damage for physical types while halving HP or recovery, and both of them have a sub-fire attribute.

Their actives, however are different. Gravis turns hearts to dark and recovers one bind turn while d.Izanami reduces 35% damage for 3 turns.

Using the site's search engine, I put together all the monsters that have a dark and physical type as either a mix of main or sub-attributes or typing that we currently have in NA. The reason why we are sticking to monsters that have a dark attribute in this case is because of Gravis' active, which turns hearts to dark orbs - physicals that are not dark will not benefit from it and therefore lack synergy and may already be suboptimal in most cases (and because I really don't want to list out each and every physical type monster).

Awoken Deity Odin - 50x damage, 15% hp drain
BAO Batman+S. Gloves Act FB - 2 turn delay
Dark Sun Deity, Ra - 7777 laser damage, unmitigated by defense
Blue Dragon Caller, Sonia - change all orbs into water and dark orbs
Ethereal Guardian Seiryuu, Karin - all orbs into dark, water, and green.
Roaming National Founder, Okuninushi - 1 turn delay, 1.5x damage for dark types
Armored Dual Blade Knight, Creuse - phys damage x 2.5 for 1 turn, 30x atk made to one target
Awoken Hinokagutsuchi - 75% defense break for 1 turn and carry forward on sweep, water to fire, heart to dark

Bokkle - turns light to hearts
ABE Capt'n Bomb - turns light to dark, heart to light.
ABE Royal Guard Pig - 1 turn delay, enhance all wood orbs.
Evil Genius, Lex Luthor - right-most column to dark orbs

Dark Golem Mk.III - 75% defense break for 5 turns, carry forward on sweep
Blazing Dark Tiamat - 20x atk to all enemies, dark atk x 1.3 for 2 turns
Yomi Mistress, Izanami - reduce damage by 35% for 3 turns
Arcane Monarch, Vampire Duke - heart to dark orbs
Shadow Shield Knight - recover 3k hp, light to hearts orbs

So far, looks good. But if we are assuming maximum damage (and only damage for now) with the limitation of Gravis lead (because that is the main limitation - anyone that can sub with Gravis can sub with d.Izanami, but d.Izanami gets a much bigger pool of physicals to pull from), then that list gets cut down drastically.

First is Ra and Okuninushi. If you have either of those two, you should run those as leads instead. Ra has a x6 multiplier. Okuninushi gives 4x damage for making 6 combos while also giving x1.35 RCV.

I also vouch for removing Karin as a sub. While she has the colors to match, her active also produces wood orbs. Only Lex Luthor and Royal Guard Pig can utilize them in a dark physical team, so while she can contribute, if you end up with more green orbs than dark or blue (there are more dark physicals that are either blue main or sub attribute, so that's more useful, but more on that in a bit), you lose out on a lot of potential damage and the skill active may be better replaced with another.

Then there is Blonia and Blodin. Blonia turns all orbs into water or dark. It synergizes fairly well with Gravis because there are more physicals that are B/D or D/B. It's a bit of a toss-up. She can work, but she may be better as a leader. Blodin, however, would not be a good fit. He is better on a row enhance team, and you're really cutting down your power by putting him here and not somewhere he excels in. And if you have Blodin, chances are you'd be running a blue enhance team instead.

We then remove Bokkle and Shadow Shield Knight as they are both skill-up materials. They cap at lvl 70, have bad stats, and are situational subs that would reduce damage for Izanami and Gravis - again, the only factor we're considering right now.

We can then remove the collab monsters due to limited availability. So really, that only leaves the following:

Dark Golem Mk.III
Blazing Dark Tiamat
Yomi Mistress, Izanami
Arcane Monarch, Vampire Duke
Armored Dual Blade Knight, Creuse
BAO Batman+S. Gloves Act FB
Awoken Hinokagutsuchi

Batman and Hino are REM pulls. They're great if you have them, but if you don't, then that's too bad. You can probably also remove Hino from the list because if you have him at that form, you could probably make a stronger team with him elsewhere, but I'll leave him here for now.

That leaves us with this team:
Blazing Tiamat/Creuse/Bubblie (3x is worth it despite not being dark)
Dark golem/Hino
B/D vamp

This is actually a really good team with strong synergies (and almost all farmable/PEM sans Creuse and Hino): defense break, d.Izanami with her autoheal and active (pretty important since you have 1/4 RCV), a damage enhancer, and a way to reliably make dark orbs, in addition to x16. You also have good survivability and a higher HP pool.

Now the problem is that Izanami can use everyone Gravis can use (essentially switching place with him), while also having the option of using other phys monsters to their full potential, resulting in higher damage. Gravis can run Kirin for 20x, but he has to go with a D/G (Lex Luthor or, when it's out, Goetia) because his active colorlocks his sub choice for best damage - he wants dark mains and other color subs if possible, and then needs to combo all 5 colors. Izanami can go with phys subs that are other color mains instead for more damage - if there are no dark orbs, it's not a big deal. Izanami also can build a team around each member's actives since her active doesn't affect orbs (and therefore damage). Also, Gravis' active is a bit easier to replace than Izanami's - you lose bind removal, but still get orbs.

Lastly, the fact that she reduces HP by half is somewhat circumvented by already high HP. Gravis cuts RCV, which is usually very low for physicals. Her active also helps negate a part of that weakness and can come in as soon as turn 0 with skill boosts while Gravis has to beat it with stats.

tl;dr of tl;dr

Gravis is best for dark spike damage and tanking multiple hits. Izanami is more flexible in sub choice, can build to hit harder with less requirements (and thus plan to 1HKO easier if you absolutely must kill something in 1 turn), can dark spike with the same team Gravis can, and can mitigate damage if needed.

You might be able to deal with 1/4 recovery. Get hit 4 times, you're dead.

But I don't really see you dealing with 1/4 hp so well. Get hit once you're dead.

Hollow 3 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
One thing to point out, his cost is 20. That means he can lead in Xuang Zhang descended, potentially a pretty decent farm lead for xuang zhang without sacrificing stats for an unevolved god. i havent looked into it much, but i think its most definitely a possibility. otherwise, there are better leads (physical or not), but this is to be expected since he is a farmable monster.
JJ3 3 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
At that point, the decision to use Gravis or Dark Izanami as the leader is entirely up to the dungeon at hand.

With Izanami as the leader, you're halving HP that you most likely won't need. This makes room to improve the RCV and make stalling easier. Along with her active, it can help for those hits that deal more damage than your HP. This falls off against extremely powerful hits that can still kill you even with the shield active on, however.

With Gravis as the leader, you're halving a stat that never was good in the first place on a Physical Team, enabling you to work on their strengths such as HP and ATK. You can tank really powerful hits, allowing you more time to mow down the enemy...but might pose a problem if you absolutely need to recover.

On the flipside, having Izanami AND Gravis as the leader/helper at the same time would be pretty decent! Reducing two stats to massively boost one is better than reducing a lot of one stat to massively boost one.

In conclusion, I'd say the teams are pretty situational. Mix em' up however you like to destroy the dungeon at hand, and you have a pretty solid team for 16x unconditional ATK.

It's not good.

Take the forementioned sample team and mix the leaders.
Right here.

By running Izanami as the leader, You cut your 26000 hp to 13000. Ok.

Recovery! of course. Your recovery is only cut in half, instead of cut in a quarter.

Your 111 recovery is cut to 55, instead of being cut to 27.

Gravis is infinitely better than Izanami, until they come out with a physical card with 10000 hp and 1k recovery for you to run as subs.

Ed: now we got ult izanami which only reduces hp by 25%, loads of autorecovers and the perma 35% shield, plus boosts god types. (good bye awful dark physical sub pool). RIP gravis.

Good thoughts, minor nitpick is that if you're removing collab stuff due to limited availability, wouldn't that remove batman?
JJ3 in reply to Eric 3 years ago ( 7.3.0 )
You can't recover with dual Gravis. Izanami and Gravis, you still can...provided that you have enough +eggs.

I run Izanami/Gravis, and it's pretty good. Need more +eggs to make it better, but running Gravis as a leader/helper is ALWAYS going to make it hard to recover.

Bottom line is, they both have their shortcomings. One isn't really better than the other due to the fact that they half one stat...and reducing one by a lot is worse than reducing two.

Izanami/Izanami is just saying you won't get hit. Izanami/Gravis seems strictly better. Izanami/Gravis might be better than Gravis/Gravis in some cases but since you run it maybe you can list them.

Honestly, nothing about the team seems impressive to me. A Dark physical sub pool is rough. And I dunno about the 'reducing both' being better thing. Considering leads like satan and all. You can still recover with actives, autoheal awakens, and bosses that heal you.
Albegas in reply to Eric 3 years ago ( 7.3.0 )
Well, but unlike Gravis Satan has a bazillion points of HP and his 6 dark rows on a dual Satan (not counting his team rows) ensure that he will be doing equivalent damage or more if you 6 row everything using a orb changers.

Dark Iza just says "50% HP reduction" without any attributes specified. Since hers is differently worded, perhaps they've thrown the idea of a sixth attribute for monsters around their office?

It seems weird to have X*.5+Y*.5+Z*.5+W*.5=TRCV when you could just do TRCV=TRCV*.5, since total RCV needs to be known anyway (remove penalty if bound). I am assing this is functionally identical to D Iza, except on RCV instead of HP though.

Therefore, I would assume idea is that if they were ever to add a 6th attribute for monsters in the future (i.e. Heart, since Heart orbs exist already), it wouldn't automatically get sweeped in and they could decide at such a time if it should also get reduced.

For example, if they added Heart as an attribute those monsters wouldn't be able to attack except for with sub attributes. It seems reasonable to think such monsters wouldn't also get reduced, as you would already be getting somewhat penalized by that.

Could just always be them just being kind of weird or deciding to change the standards for the descriptions of skills since Dark Iza was created with nothing else to it though.

I assume it's because of this:
Say you have this monster as leader and a friend who multiplies atk by 2(doesn't matter, just for example) everyone's rcv would be halved, yes. But in the case you have this as leader, and a friend who multiplies rcv by 2, 2 x .5 is 1. So it's just everyone's normal rcv added up as if a multiplier wasn't present. So it's not that it's necessarily being halved. I don't know if anyone will understand my rambling but I tried. Lol hope this clears it up.
Mr Wiggles in reply to Stephen 3 years ago ( 7.2.3 )

By Junpei 3 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
This is also kinda in response to Chrono. This is a PERFECT Satan Sub. Considering that the descended is also not extremely hard to do compared to most of them, imagine a full team of subs of him with a double Satan lead team.

Satan leads: 13,332 HP
Gravis sub 5,068HP x4 =20,272
33,604 base HP x 2.7 leader skill
= 90,730 HP!

This is not even including the possibility of +eggs which call push this team over 100k.

Even if you are still worried about no healing, if you have a fully evolved Odin and replace him for one of them, you are getting 2k of healing on a team that still has 77k of HP.

Even better for those lucky enough to have a dark Ceres, you would get a full heal and still have the atk boost and almost 84k of HP.

What team did you use into the dungeon?
Seika in reply to thebaddest 4 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Oh god, what did I use? I think it was something horrible like B/L Siegfried, two max-awoken, max-skilled ogres (F/Wt, F/Wd) , Top DroidDragon, King Bubblie, FL B/R Siegfried. All no higher than 40. Just matched combos til things died and used skills when they were up. Saved Bubblie for Gravis himself.

I'm not going back in til I have a half-way decently-leveled physical team so I can plow through Legend with Gravis' leader skill. I imagine he'd make a decent sub for himself if he had a better active.

So how does his X .5 multiplier on his leader skill affect his already negative 200 recovery? I know the game treats -recovery different than what should happen, so is it simply unaffected? I don't have him to test him out...
keoten 3 years ago ( 8.1.1 )
He will still give the team RCV -200 before the leader skill takes effect. The leader skill will apply to the whole team overall RCV. So first you add together all monsters' RCV and then you divide by 2. If you end on a negative RCV (for example if you have Satan on the team), the end result is still 0.

Many of you are probably thinking "Hey! I can farm this guy and finally use that one friend who always has blue sonia up (cuz who ever uses blue over red :P)!" A free 10x multiplier for physical types, and Sonia's 2.5x rcv cancels out the .5x, right?

In theory, yes, but given that physical types already come with extremely low rcv, the 6.25x rcv boost given from two Sonia's is MUCH more desirable than 1.25, which gives you maybe 1000 per heart match at best. So basically all I'm trying to say is this: either unfriend that useless* Blue Sonia, or wait it out until every Godfest and pull until the Gungtrolls show you mercy.

*I only say useless because personally, i find physical types to be way too hard to deal with. Really the only decnet physical leader is Blue Sonia herself. Happy Pad-ing to you all, no matter where you stand on this :)
Albegas 3 years ago ( 8.1.1 )
Gravis/DIza is a way more viable team that BSonia, much greater ATK multi, a way to deal with strong hits in DIza, still decent HP even with the -25% HP penalty from DIza, meaningless RCV drop do to a x16 multi that is more than enough for most stuff where you would run Gravis (since he is a farming lead, not a hard descend lead).

And what makes you think that? if its the -200 and 0.5 RCV then know that in a physical team you dont need any RCV and an auto recover awoken can take care of that. Take odin for example. 4 autoheals and gungnir for a quick heal too. He doesnt need to be physical, he just wont do much damage
