Does anyone know if reduced damage awakenings are additive between subs? If so, with five of these guys you'd have 100% fire resist... Otherwise it's probably a waste of time

Possible ways to calculate resist:
Resists all add together before being applied to damage
5x5x4%=100% resist

resists are additive within a card but are multiplicative between cards
100% * (100%-5x4%) * (100%-5x4%) * (100%-5x4%) ~60% resist

Each resist awakening applies separately
100% * (100%-4%)^20~54% resist

Edit: it is additive. I tested with a jester dragon (2 resist lights) and 3 sixth angels (1 resist light each) on endless corridors. The white fighter did 520 damage instead of 650 (20% damage reduction).

Hey Mr. KnowItAll, when this was posted the awakenings were only worth 4% reduction, not 5%. So yes he can in fact do math.... and you are therefore a D-bag.
Char@PF in reply to Bryggyth 6 years ago ( 7.1.2 )
Most awakens are additive.
Red 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
I believe I read somewhere that there is a maximum to how much damage you can take off. I think I heard it was around 50%. I could have heard wrong, however.
Edit: nevermind. Hope the speculations are right because this would be crazy.

Why is everyone saying how many tamadras it would take to fully awaken these guys? They're farmable, so just fuse them into themselves to awaken.
kandjar 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Just need to farm 28 of each of these bad guys :P to have mono-color immune teams :)

You're probably gonna want to skill them up too, so fusing them together kills two birds with one stone.
nathan@N17 in reply to kadian1365 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Yeah if you ever get the one you need to drop....and that's also when/if the dungeon is available. There are multiple ways to get tams, so using a couple wouldn't hurt but yes farming would be ideal

Love the look on this one, and the Att! Only thing I don't like is the 5 fire reduction awokens, WTF?
Bryggyth 6 years ago ( 7.1.2 )
They are additive, not multiplicative like most awoken skills, so with 5 of these guys you are immune to fire damage.
Nageku in reply to Red 6 years ago ( 7.1.2 )
4*5=20 not 24. But close. If you have 5 of these guys on your team...
Red 6 years ago ( 6.4.5 )
Don't like?? That's 24% added fire damage reduction. Tamadras aren't that hard to come by...
By Chrono 6 years ago ( 6.4.5 )
Instantly one of the best dragon subs! Awesome active skill and incredible attack (in combination with pretty ok RCV, which is a rare thing).
By Mao 6 years ago ( 6.4.5 )
...the 5 Fire awakenings sound as good as they are pointless. 20% Fire Resist actually sounds good to just have on hand, but to use 5 Tamadras for
Momo 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
Farm and feed 'em dupes... problem solved. (Bonus if you get skill up.)

Man attack on these dragons are sick...good edition to rgy

To think- If you have a 50% dmg reduction leader skill and two of these monsters max awakened, you won't need to have four of them to nullify the fire attack completely!
....Well, in theory only though. Still haven't gotten to even actually trying the dungeon yet :)

Also, now that the awakenings reduce fire dmg by 5% each rather than 4%, we can have four of these guys as the subs and have the two leader slots free!
Plus, their attack is unbelievably high as well. Now, the active and leader skills suck a bit, but the 1.3x dragon type attacks for two turns are really eye catching as well. 1.3^4 for 4 dragons means 2.8561x for dragons, I believe, if I did the math right. I think the downside of a crappy 'Attack x20 to all enemies' and the god forbid 'Fire Attribute cards ATK x2' is endurable enough if it means NO FIRE ATTACKS ARE GONNA EVEN NICK YOU. :)
Mizuumi 5 years ago ( 7.3.0 )
unfortunately it doesn't work out that way. damage reduction awakenings are additive with each other, but not with other damage reduction skills. the damage reduction formula goes as follows:

Percent of damage taken = [1-Your leader reduction]*[1-Friend's leader reduction]*[1-.05*Number of reduction awakenings on team]

so if you had two 50% resist leaders and two dark skydragons of the same color on your team, you would get .5*.5*(.05*10) = .125

so you'd only take an eighth of the damage from that element in this setup, but the only way to achieve full 100% immunity to an element is to have 20 resistance awakenings on your team. this means that stacking resist leaders on top of skydragons of the same element is actually somewhat counterproductive, and you'd likely be better off just stacking 4 as subs and then using either dragon/god spike leaders to speed things up, or resist leaders of other elements to better tank hits from other monsters (or do both - Awoken Minerva says hi)
milkyway in reply to Mizuumi 5 years ago ( 7.5.1 )
Your calculation is wrong. The damage reduction cannot possibly go down to 12.5% from 50% plus 20% awakenings. It would either be 70% damage reduction or 60% damage reduction.

50% damage reduction on 100 attack gives you 50 attack left, then 20% off of 50 attack left is 10 so you minus 10 from 50 to give you 40 attack left = 60% total damage reduction for the team and 40% attack left. Just like how leader skills multiply. 2 50% resists give you 75% damage reduction total. so you will never be able to get full damage reduction unless you have all of the damage taken off with awakenings alone (20 damage resist awakenings).

Or, if it stacks on top of the original damage independently of what the leaders already do, it would be 50% of 100 original attack = 50 less attack then take 20% off of the original 100 attack= 20 less attack to leave you with 50 + 20 = 70 less attack = 30% damage left and 70% total damage reduction. If it worked this way you could have 2 50% damage reduction leaders and one of these monsters fully awoken as a sub to make 100% damage reduction for that specific color. This is obviously the hoped for option.

What would happen if you used an Odin leader with one of each of the 5 dragons on your team, max awoken?
nathan@N17 5 years ago ( 7.2.3 )
You would get your memorial 1000 day tam before you completed a descend I'm guessing

This could clear Ancient Wood & Flame Dragons easily. Add latent tamadra shields on there and you only take 10% damage from all monsters in there, plus all your cards will attack x2, or when you use a skill they'll attack x2.6. Skills are powerful as well. It could take a while, but you're guaranteed to clear.

Math is not my thing, I like matching all the pretty colored orbs.

But these Skydragons sure look cool, so I'm willing to let you all have your math-off! Try to keep the excitement down, and no calculators allowed while playing PAD.

Another pretty beast that will sit in my doll house with all the other pretty beasts that never get leveled, evolved or awoken. But there's always the math.
